The Gallagher brothers, Noel and Liam, are synonymous with both Oasis’ rise to stardom and their tumultuous relationship. Their volatile dynamic fueled much of the band’s drama and, at times, overshadowed their musical genius. From their formation in 1991, Oasis became one of the biggest names in Britpop, but their success was often marred by the brothers’ constant clashes.
The rivalry began early. Noel, the older sibling, was initially the band’s lead guitarist and primary songwriter, while Liam, the younger, fronted the band with his raw, brash energy.
