Lea Henry, the former head coach of the University of Tennessee Lady Volunteers basketball team, has passed away at the age of 66. Henry, who led the Lady Vols from 1992 to 1996, was a trailblazer in women’s collegiate basketball and will be remembered for her deep passion for the game, her unwavering commitment to her players, and her legacy at the University of Tennessee.
Henry began her coaching career at the University of Tennessee in 1985 as an assistant under legendary head coach Pat Summitt. She was instrumental in helping Summitt build one of the most successful and dominant programs in women’s basketball. Her contributions helped lay the foundation for what would become the powerhouse Lady Vols team.
